Sinethemba welcomes its new Manager
The board of Sinethemba Afterschool Care Centre (SACC) has officially appointed Ms. Mandisa Tani as its new Project Manager with immediate effect. Mandisa is taking over reigns from its founder Marie Botha, who has been at the helm for almost for eight years. Mandisa joins Sinethemba after serving as a Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Specialist for eleven (11) years at Transnet National Ports.
Prior to that, she worked at Department of Rural Development and Land Affairs as a Planner. Some of the institutions she has worked for includes University of Cape Town (UCT), Eskom, Shell, and Community Agency for Social Enquiry (CASE) to count few. “When I saw the advert for this position, I knew exactly it had my name on it. A month later, here I am on the helm of Sinethemba” she reflects. To this job she bring her wealth of experience and expertise in event and project management, public relations, financial management, and corporate governance.
Mandisa holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree from the University of Cape Town (UCT), coupled with certificates in Public Relations from Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), and Community Development to count few. As the new Project Manager her responsibility focuses more on administration, planning, budgeting, and making sure that the organization delivers on its objectives. Her job basically entails ensuring that she drives effective and efficient operations. This includes engaging all key stakeholders within the community and lobbying key relevant government departments to ensure the centre is aligned to legislative requirements and achieves its short and long-term goals.
In an exclusive interview with Khwezi Times, Mandisa highlighted she is very excited to be part of this well-established organization and she believe it will provide her with many opportunities for growth and development. She has also indicated it won’t be an easy journey, but its wise for her to take step-by-step. Some of her swift strategic plans is to convert their “white-elephant” PC room into a full-fledged resource centre that caters for the whole community, especially youth seeking educational and employment opportunities. “This resource centre will be a hub for sharing information on key issues such as employment, bursaries, internships, and business related content” she explains.
