Back to the drawing board for PJB Cona

PJB Cona Primary took part in this year’s Eskom Expo for Young Scientists held last month at Bloemhof High School in Stellenbosch. This is a science fair where learners from various schools have a chance to showcase their own innovative ideas (projects) based on their scientific investigation conducted. PJB Cona started their campaign on a positive note after qualifying for the regional phase of this competition.
The school presented its innovative projects at regional level, where they stood a chance to represent their region and province at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists International Science Fair, but unfortunately competition was far greater to match for this young team of aspiring scientistists. One of the learners Amahle Ndlela expressed her disappointment for not qualifying to the next round of this competition, however she commended their mentor and Acting Principal, Khululekile Somphindi for making sure they participate in a competition of this nature. “It’s sad for us not to proceed to the next phase of the competition as aimed, nevertheless next year we will be ready and more prepared” said Somphindi.
Learners who are still part on the competition stand a chance of winning coveted prizes such as bursaries and scholarships, mobile science kits and even the chance to represent South Africa at other prestigious international science fairs
